EU Placement Programme

Belfast firm FGS McClure Watters manages EU programmes which bring talented young professionals from other parts of the EU to Belfast for unpaid placements. Past participants have been placed in organisations including QUB, InvestNI, and AFBINI. In March, three Spanish participants with strong backgrounds in biotechnology are coming to Belfast to do 11-week unpaid placements. FGS would like to hear from firms that may be interested in hosting a participant. There would be no cost to the company, and FGS looks after participants’ accommodation/transport/insurance. Some information about the participants: 

Gina has a Master’s degree in biotechnology from the University of Barcelona, where she also was an assistant lecturer. She has work experience in research labs, quality control (in a food company), and in a pharmaceutical consultancy. Gina has good English. She is primarily interested in work related to microbiology.  

Alicia has a Master’s degree in molecular genetics and biotechnology from the University of Seville. She has work experience doing research on innovative uses of microorganisms in agriculture, and experience in health and safety consulting. Her English is intermediate. She is interested in doing any kind of research and development work.  

Laura has a degree in Biotechnology, and a postgraduate certificate in innovation management. She has work experience in an oncology lab and has very good English. She is particularly interested in work related to the environment, bioenergy, or agri-food.
